Content Analysis Of Design
For Online Learning
PI: Carrie Heeter
Team: Laura Portwood-Stacer, Sarah Hyosil Kim
Contrary to typical Course Management Systems
which enforce a common, rigid structure of online course design,
the first seven years of development at MSU Virtual University left
faculty free to structure their courses any way they chose. This
content analysis of the structure and inital student experience
of 120 MSU Virtual University courses will look at the results of
this freedom, both overall and by discipline.
A
coding form has been developed and is being refined. We are
partway through coding the sites. A "tour VU" site is
being developed, for fall 2002 public release.
