At the point that you are under the influence of a pain medication that it affects your conscious reasoning, then you have lost some control, you have lost some choice. I think there is also the sense of being aware of the whole process of life, the whole process of even transition from life to death, being able to respond to your spouse or your family to the last minute and all of that can be gone, or at least very blurred. I guess there's a sense in my father's family of awareness of time to die and I guess a sense of religious belief that there is right time to go. And it's improper to go before that time. The medication can hinder that.
