How do I take it? You will find hydromorphone available in a variety of forms: oral, rectal, for injections, and for intravenous use. Its biggest drawback in oral use is that it is not available in long-acting preparations. Most people find that they need to take it every 3 or 4 hours to maintain pain relief - a hard schedule to keep up over time. It is especially useful for frequent or continuous injection under the skin, because a lot of this pain reliever can be dissolved in a very small amount of fluid. |
