These standards provide excellent guidelines for teachers on how to focus social sciences work in their classrooms.
An evaluation of how the Fact Checking the News Unit addresses some of the NCSS social studies standards:
Students will:
- "Locate, access, analyze, [and] organize ... information about selected public issues" (Standard 10, Civic Ideals and Practices).
Math

Students will:
- Collect data (Standard 10).
- "Make inferences and convincing arguments that are based on data analysis" (Standard 10).
- "Evaluate arguments that are based on data" (Standard 10).
