About non-narcotics For mild cancer pain, your doctor may recommend non-narcotic pain relievers (also called non-opioid analgesics), many of which are available without a prescription. This category of pain reliever includes acetaminophen as well as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like aspirin and ibuprofen. The other type of pain relievers is referred to as "mixed opioid agonists/antagonists." These are not usually recommended for use in treating cancer pain. |
