Surgery
Surgery is not commonly used to relieve cancer pain (although it is a common part of cancer treatment). But it may be very helpful in relieving pain in certain circumstances.
Examples of situations where pain may benefit from surgery include:
bone metastases (cancer pread to the bone) where the bone is actually (or nearly) broken.obstruction of the GI tract (blockage in the stomach or bowels) that causes pain and vomitinga very large tumor with pressure causing paintumors that have broken through the skin and caused soresblocking of the urinary system which causes pain and cramps
