Pain

Whether it results from a disease like cancer or from another source such as surgery, pain plays a major role in many serious illnesses. Severe pain can easily lead to feelings of anxiety, helplessness and depression. It saps your strength, disrupts sleep and appetite, and can rob you of the pleasure that comes from being active and from spending time with people you care about.

But treatment for pain is available. Despite some of the things you might have heard, and which even some health professionals believe, there is no good reason to live with unrelieved pain. In almost all cases, doctors and nurses experienced in this area of medicine can help you get good pain relief.
