1 | apple, unpeeled and chopped |
1 tablespoon | brown sugar |
2 teaspoons | cornstarch |
1/2 cup | water |
3 tablespoons | vinegar |
1/2 teaspoon | caraway seeds (optional) |

- Place cabbage and apple pieces in a saucepan. Add boiling water to a depth of about 1/2 inch.
- Cook until cabbage is tender. Drain.
- Combine brown sugar, cornstarch and water in other saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil for one minute.
- Add vinegar and caraway seeds (optional) to the brown sugar mix. Stir.
- Add this sauce to the cooked cabbage/apple mixture and heat until warm.

NOTES: Variation: Red cabbage can be used instead of white cabbage. Serving Suggestion: Sweet-sour cabbage is good with chicken, beef or pork. Serve with crusty bread and a salad. Great hot or cold. |
