Hamburger Cabbage Casserole
Number of Servings 6   Serving Size 1 cup

Quantities Ingredients
1/2 poundground beef
1/2 cuponion, chopped
1 teaspoonchili powder
1/2 cupuncooked rice
1small cabbage head, sliced (2 cups)
1can tomato soup, mixed with 2 cans water


Equipment Instructions
  • sharp knife
  • cutting board
  • measuring cup
  • measuring spoon
  • frying pan
  • casserole dish with cover or foil
  • mixing spoon

  1. Brown ground beef with onion in frying pan. Drain off excess fat.
  2. Add pepper and chili powder. Place half of the ground beef mixture in the bottom of the casserole dish.
  3. Spoon half of the uncooked rice and sliced cabbage onto the ground beef layer.
  4. Repeat layering with the rest of the ingredients (beef, rice, cabbage).
  5. Pour the undiluted tomato soup over the top.
  6. Cover and bake at 350¡F for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

NOTES: Variation: Use 1/2 pound ground turkey instead of beef.The nutritional analysis was based on using medium fat ground beef; calories and fat will be lower if lean ground beef or turkey were to be used.
