Dumplings
Number of Servings 5   Serving Size 2 dumplings
Preparation Time 20 minutes   Cooking Time 12-15 minutes
         
Quantities Ingredients
1 1/2 cupsflour
2 teaspoonsbaking powder
2/3 cupskim or reconstituted nonfat dry milk
1 tablespoonoil or melted shortening
1egg, slightly beaten

  • fork to beat egg

  1. In mixing bowl combine flour and baking powder
  2. Stir in remaining ingredients until the dry ingredients are moistened.
  3. Drop one tablespoon of dough at a time into boiling stew.
  4. Cover and cook 12 to 15 minutes or until dumplings are fluffy and no longer doughy underneath.
  5. Variation: Melted Shortening can be used instead of vegetable oil
