The Learning Exchange for Teachers and Students through the Internet (LETSNet) project, funded by Ameritech, has developed resources for K-12 teachers on how the Internet can be used in their classrooms. This resource has been created by a collaboration between Michigan State University's College of Education and College of Communication Arts and Sciences. These resources are available immediately on the World Wide Web at http://commtechlab.msu.edu/sites/letsnet/.
The LETSNet web site allows teachers to access the information in four ways: by big ideas, teacher case studies, subject matter, and grade level.
The big ideas encourage teachers to think about using the Internet in the classroom in terms of concepts already familiar to teachers, such as field trips, publishing, teamwork and research.
Teacher case studies offer another avenue for accessing the resources in LETSNet, by providing a real-life context for Internet-based classroom activities. These stories are rich, narrative descriptions of K-12 teachers who are already using the Internet. The web site includes photographs, audio samples and short video segments on these teachers and their experiences with the Internet in their classroom.
Other lenses that can be used to access the LETSNet materials are grade level and subject matter. Through these perspectives, teachers can quickly and easily locate projects, units, lesson plans, references to web-based resources, and links to state and national standards organized by subject and grade level. |
