Project Name: The Cleveland (OH) Orchestra's Ameritech Family Music Network (http://www.clevelandorch.com)
Application: Internet
Video Distance Learning
Audience/Level: Elementary School
Middle School
High School
Higher Education
Community
Academic Area: Arts
Description: The Ameritech Family Music Network is a broad based educational program which serves the entire community through a variety of venues, including the use of technology. The Ameritech Family Music Network components are:

Web Site: The primary use of the web site is to introduce and promote the Ameritech Family Concert and to prepare audiences for the performances. This unique application sets the standard for the way organizations meet the needs of their audiences.

Ameritech Family Concerts: These concerts appeal to all age groups. The concerts are grouped in concert pairs each fall and spring for four concerts per season. Because of the inexpensive ticket price, these concerts appeal to a broad economic and geographic range of people in the community. There are pre concert activities of which the Orchestra sets up a Web Room where children and families can explore the Ameritech Education Web Site, thus reaching those who do not have access to the Internet throughout the week.

Ameritech Meet the Artist: This is a unique and innovative way to link the professional musicians with elementary and middle school students. The Ameritech Education Web Site is used to announce the Meet the Artist schedule for the season, as well as Q & A for the students and teachers. The Orchestra partners with the North Ohio Technology Association (NOTA), a multi suburban school district consortium from the east, west and south sides of Cleveland; three higher education institutions (Cuyahoga Community College, Cleveland State University, and Baldwin-Wallace College), and Public Broadcasting Station WVIZ. Using the Ameritech Advanced Video Service Network, NOTA members can work with each other in a real-time, interactive video environment with the guest artist.

Severance Hall Weekend: Each year Ameritech sponsors of one of the premiere weekends showcasing the Ameritech Meet the Artist. At this series, another Web Room is set up for concert goers, so, before and after the weekend concerts and during intermission, the Ameritech Educational Web Site can be accessed.
