Were you missing something by not being active?

I realized I was living a very sedentary life. I felt I was missing out on a lot of things. There are some physical activities I enjoyed but just didn't have the energy to do. I started paying a lot more attention to physical activity. I started using a bicycle to commute, and rode it every day. I found my knees weren't giving me the problems I thought they would as long as I was really careful and conscientious of what I was doing. Then I started going to a gym several times a week and started having a completely different perspective about myself. I'm re-discovering a part of myself that was very active and really enjoyed physical activity.

What little things do you do to be physically active?

At my job I sit in front of the computer a lot. I've tried to be very conscientious about getting up at least once an hour and taking a little walk, even if it's just down the hall and back. I find that really helps my concentration and my focus while I'm working. At home, if the weather is at all good, I love being out in my garden. Whether I'm weeding or doing some planting or whatever, it's a very easy and very pleasurable way to get some physical activity. It doesn't seem like exercise.

How do you find the time?

If I had two extra hours every day, it would be a lot easier to be physically active. It seems like time is always at a minimum. I think it's also a matter of shifting priorities. I need something to remind me during the day that physical activity is an important priority. It can be as important as finishing a project at work or doing other things I think are really important.
