How do they work?

NSAIDs work to stop pain by blocking the body's production of prostaglandins.

Prostaglandins are an inflammatory chemical produced by the body in response to tissue damage. These chemicals cause inflammation and pain directly, but they also make the nearby nerve endings more sensitive, increasing the sensation of pain.

By blocking prostaglandin production, NSAIDs relieve inflammatory types of pain.
