Wussies weren't allowed

When I was growing up, in my family, wussies weren't allowed. That doesn't mean they weren't loving. This is just the way we were brought up. You tough it out. So part of the problem may have been that I really didn't talk about any pain that I felt because I didn't know what could be accomplished by complaining. So I kinda kept things to myself. It would have been nice if I'd been offered options after my surgery, had a social worker come in and stay with me for five minutes. You know, how do ya feel? Well, I feel just fine. Then have a physical therapist come in for ten minutes. The therapist gives you a little booklet and then kinda shows you the exercises to do. Nobody said well, there is this program. You might be interested in trying it out. You know, like an aerobics program, or, you know, we're offering this. I was pretty much on my own.
