Difficult pain to treat

The kind of pain I have is difficult to treat because it is not usually responsive to typical pain medications and so my doctor and I have tried a wide variety. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications are ones that unfortunately my stomach can't work with and I end up being ill from those medications and then had to have treatment for my stomach. It's like what's the benefit, what's the cost? I am just thrilled right now because taking the anti-convulsant, anti-depressant and using acupuncture has greatly reduced my need for a continuing pain medication.
