Once he had pain control and was awake and he could talk, he could make peace with the kids if he needed to make peace with the kids. It got so they really understood each other. He was awake enough to really talk. They had good heart to heart talks. Because he had so many friends and so many people coming, we didn't have time alone so I specifically made sure it was just he and me on the motor home trip so we could have some time alone. Having good pain relief and having a clear head was really important. There were so many things to be done. Not just legally and financially, but emotionally. And we were able to accomplish those.
