The pain of the pleural effusion, the suffocating pain, was treated by a tap where the pulmonologist just went in with a needle and drew the fluid out of the chest cavity. The chest wall pain was treated with narcotics. Initially Vicodan was helpful. It was pretty soon that it wasn't very helpful, though. I think a combination of the fact that she developed tolerance pretty quickly, which anyone will if they're on narcotics and that's a pretty normal response. And the other thing was her pain was increasing.
