A bump on my left shin bone
The word "cancer"
The first time I stood up
It was different at home
I appreciate health more
I don't identify with cancer
I had never had surgery before so I had no idea what I was getting into. I just remember waking up and my leg was really swollen and really heavy and all yellow and purple and really pretty. When you're laying in a hospital bed and they have you all drugged up and everything, you don't understand the full scope, I think, of what you're going through. But after a couple of days they took me downstairs to do the therapy and the first time I stood up and all the blood rushed to my leg I just turned gray and I wanted to pass out. Like start crying, it hurt so badly.
