My advice would be to explore in your area and if there is a reputable pain clinic ask for a consultation. I think pain clinics are really more available to patients than they realize. Now, with managed care you sometimes have to have an okay from the physician, which can be a stumbler. But really be insistent that the pain be controlled in the best manner. There is no reason for someone with cancer to have horrible pain control and a horrible quality of life.
